The man who went all over the internet this week as Jürgen Klopp’s lookalike has told his story. Ray Cornwell, who briefly confused the streets around Wembley on Tuesday with a perfect impersonation of the Liverpool manager, goes through life as a multimillionaire. The 61-year-old Cornwell, among other things, loved a reporter from ITV fooled around and conducted an interview with Good Morning Britainbefore his true identity was revealed. The idea of posing as the German trainer came from his granddaughter, he said.
“It was a spontaneous idea,” Cornwell told an unsuspecting reporter in his best German accent on Tuesday Good Morning Britain. Opposite Email Online he tells two days later that he himself was also looking at all the attention. “That reporter came up to me and said, ‘Hey hello, how are you?’ I said, “Yeah, well, yeah and I put on my German accent. It was a very quick interview, but I was able to fool him. It wasn’t until the next day that I saw it everywhere on television.”
The father of three runs a successful real estate business in Bloomsbury, located in central London, knows Email Online. He also owns a hotel in France and Morocco, runs a chain of Mexican restaurants in the UK and a prestigious classic car rental company. Cornwell frankly admitted that the idea of dressing up as Klopp came from his seven-year-old granddaughter Annabella, who kept asking him why he was always on television. Cornwell then decided about a year and a half ago to purchase a Liverpool tracksuit and brush up on his German. “If my granddaughter really thinks it’s me, maybe I should do something with it, I thought.”

After being harassed by several fans and journalists outside Wembley ahead of the England v Germany round of 16, Cornwell watched the game in a pub filled with English fans. “In recent years I always get comments from people that I looked like the real Jurgen. I am an ordinary man who comes from a very modest family in South East London,” he tells. Email Online. “You could say that I am very successful, but what gives me much more joy and satisfaction is that I Cheeky Jurgen am.”
Also with The the Dutch Summer the images were not left untouched. “Is it him or not?” René van der Gijp wondered aloud. “He looks so much like him.” Hans Kraay junior also thought he saw the real Klopp in it. “I think this is him. I know he drinks beer.” Wilfred Genee didn’t fall for it. “No, that’s not possible, man. The Liverpool coach who goes on like that. That’s not possible, is it?”
