The Liverpool – Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers – Watford matches will not take place on Sunday, the clubs involved confirm. Leeds is dealing with five corona cases among the technical staff and player group. Due to the many injuries, Leeds cannot select a minimum number of thirteen players for the match. The same goes for Watford, although it is not known how many positive tests have come back there.

Leeds and Watford training complexes are closed. “All individuals with the coronavirus are asymptomatic, which we believe is due to our high vaccination coverage,” Leeds said. The club would like to thank the Premier League for its support in the attempt to postpone the game. The tickets that supporters have bought remain valid; if the fans cannot attend on the new date, they have the option to request a refund.

Both Liverpool – Leeds and Wolverhampton – Watford were to be finished at 1.30pm on Boxing Day. This week, the league organizer decided to play football on Boxing Day, despite a record 90 positive tests among players and staff members in the previous week. In the last round of matches, six games have already been canceled, which have not yet been made up. There are seven more Premier League games scheduled for Sunday.
