Football-loving Spain is looking forward to the interview between journalist Jordi Évole and Lionel Messi, Sunday evening from 9:25 pm on television channel LaSexta. The star of Barcelona gives a big interview for the second time this season, after he met in early September DAZN looked back on, among other things, his failed transfer wish. Évole insured in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday with a radio station Cadena SER that the five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or will discuss his future.

“Messi spoke of very concrete plans for the future. He told me how his career would like to end. I was surprised ”, recognized Évole, who also explained how the interview with the Argentina international came about. “We asked for an interview during the lockdown. He was modest and indicated that he was no one to talk to about and during the situation in Spain. We agreed to have a conversation afterwards. His agent (father Jorge Messi, ed.) Called me after the defeats against Cádiz and Juventus and that’s how it came about. ”

For Évole, the meeting with Messi was of a special nature, although he is a highly regarded journalist, he has won numerous awards and in recent years he spoke from Nicolás Maduro to Pope Francis. “I went there without a manual. We don’t know Messi very well and it was my intention to get to know him better. It was very important for me to know which person is behind the top football player. In the end it became more of a casual conversation than an interview. ”

Bee Cadena SER people were especially curious about Messi’s ‘concrete plans’ for the future. Journalist José Antonio Ponseti asked if Inter Miami in Major League Soccer would be an option in Messi’s plans. Évole did not want to give a concrete answer to that. “Turn on the television on Sunday. But you are in the right direction. ”

Messi’s contract with the current number five of LaLiga will end after this season. The star announced his transfer wish last summer, but Barcelona refused to cooperate and he did not want to go to court. There is still a lot of uncertainty about Messi’s future. Paris Saint-Germain has recently been put forward as a possible destination, and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City would still be on the market.

Barcelona’s presidential election on January 24 could influence Messi’s final decision, who was unhappy with how departed Josep Maria Bartomeu led the club. Eight candidates are now competing for the presidency and Joan Laporta is the most famous. The lawyer cum politician was already the highest sports director of the Spanish top club between 2003 and 2010, a period in which the club had many sporting successes. For Laporta, Messi is the pillar of his new project and he wants to talk to the star player immediately if he wins the election.
