The new Eredivisie season starts for Feyenoord with an away game against PEC Zwolle. The Rotterdam team was especially difficult to beat last season under coach Dick Advocaat and they would like to continue in the new year. In Zwolle they are hoping for better times, because last season John Stegeman did poorly under the coach. Opta consider for the match at the MAC³PARK Stadium, Saturday night from 20:00.

o PEC Zwolle have won only one of the last eight Eredivisie duels with Feyenoord (two draws, five losses), of the eight league meetings with the Rotterdam team, PEC has won four (four losses).

o During the last three Eredivisie matches between PEC and Feyenoord in Zwolle, no less than eighteen goals were scored: twice Feyenoord was too strong 4-3, once PEC won 3-1.

o PEC Zwolle have won only one of the last five first matches of an Eredivisie season (two draws, lost two), on 13 August 2017 PEC was 4-2 too strong against Roda JC.

Mustafa Saymak could become the third player on Saturday with fifty victories for PEC Zwolle in the Eredivisie.

No team in the last Eredivisie season has conceded as many shots as PEC Zwolle (175), who after RKC Waalwijk (60) also scored the most goals against (55).

o Mustafa Saymak achieved 49 Eredivisie victories with PEC Zwolle and could become the third player with 50 victories for the club, after Bram van Polen (76) and René IJzerman (50).

o Jesper Drost has scored less frequently in his last four Eredivisie seasons (7 goals in 99 games) than in his last full season for PEC Zwolle (8 goals in 33 games).

o Feyenoord could not win one of the last two opening matches of the season (one draw, one lost), between 1988 and 1990 the team from Rotterdam suffered the last points in three consecutive opening matches in the Eredivisie (two draws, one loss ).

After Saturday, Feyenoord coach Dick Advocaat can call himself the oldest coach still on the line during an Eredivisie match.

o Feyenoord has been unbeaten in the last fourteen Eredivisie matches and can remain without a defeat for at least fifteen consecutive league matches for the third time this century (20 in 2003 and 22 in 2016).

o At 72 years and 351 days, Dick Advocaat could become the oldest coach ever in an Eredivisie game; the record is still held by Foppe de Haan (72 years and 317 days in May 2016).

o Both Steven Berghuis (7 goals, just like against sc Heerenveen) and Bryan Linssen (8 goals, just like against sc Heerenveen) did not succeed more often against any Eredivisie team than against PEC Zwolle.
