Lautaro Martínez scored four goals in one half for Internazionale on Saturday. The Argentinian started on the bench against Salernitana, but made an appearance at half-time and scored four times: 0-4. Davy Klaassen made his starting debut for I Nerazzurri, who regain the top position in Serie A. Salernitana already fears relegation in ninth place.

After the defeat against Sassuolo (1-2), Inzaghi decided to make five changes. Klaassen was in the starting line-up for Inter for the first time. There was also a first starting place since his summer return for Alexis Sánchez. Benjamin Pavard and Stefan de Vrij came at the back of the team. Denzel Dumfries is in great form this season and retained his starting place.

Already in the first five minutes, Inter became very dangerous twice. Guillermo Ochoa, the famous Mexican goalkeeper from Salernitana, made a good save on an attempt with Marcus Thuram’s chest. Then Sánchez fired over from very close range. In the remainder of the first half, the best opportunities were for Salernitana. Grigoris Kastanos hit the outside of the post after half an hour.

After an hour of play, Inter took the lead through substitute Martínez. The Argentinian World Cup winner had an extremely handy marker after a low cross from Thuram: 0-1. Inter were lucky that Mateusz Legowski’s quick goal was disallowed for offside. The liberating 0-2 followed in minute 77, when Martínez fired in Nicolò Barella’s cross from the dropkick. A penalty gave Martínez a flawless hat trick five minutes before the end: 0-3. It became even better for the Argentinian when he tapped in a cross from Carlos Augusto in minute 89: 0-4.
