Artem Dovbyk is set to leave Girona for Atlético Madrid, transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed after earlier reports from ASH and RelevoAccording to the Italian journalist, the transfer fee for the 27-year-old striker will amount to around 40 million euros.

Girona picked up Dovbyk last summer for just under 8 million euros from SK Dnipro-1. In his debut season in Spain, the Ukrainian striker immediately became LaLiga's top scorer. 24 league goals were enough for that honorary title.

At Atlético Madrid, Dovbyk must make us forget Álvaro Morata, who left for AC Milan. The club and the player have already agreed on personal terms. Dovbyk has a buyout clause of 40 million euros in his contract with Girona, but it will most likely be a package deal that could amount to that amount.

Dovbyk is contracted to Girona until mid-2028, but his stay will be limited to one unforgettable season. Thanks in part to his goals, coach Míchel's stunt team finished a respectable second in LaLiga, making Champions League football a reality next season.

Girona sees another key player from the successful year leave with Dovbyk. Earlier it was announced that midfielder Aleix García will continue his career at Bayer Leverkusen, who paid 18 million euros for his services.

Important loanees such as Yan Couto, Eric García and Sávio returned to their original employer earlier this summer. On the other hand, there is the arrival of Ladislav Krejci, Donny van de Beek, Gabriel Misehouy and Abel Ruiz.

At Atleti, Dovbyk will be the first summer signing. Coach Diego Simeone has already seen many big names leave, including Çaglar Söyüncü, Gabriel Paulista, Mario Hermoso, Saúl Níguez, Memphis Depay, Morata and Vitolo, although João Félix has returned from his loan at FC Barcelona.
