After the grand presentation at the Santiago Bernabéu, Kylian Mbappé took part in his first press conference as a Real Madrid player on Tuesday afternoon. The French superstar immediately emphasised that he never doubted the transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to the Champions League winner.

“I have had several offers from other clubs, but every time I said 'no' because I always trusted that this moment would come. Real Madrid was my only option,” said Mbappé, who has signed in the Spanish capital until mid-2029.

Mbappé is eagerly awaiting his first training sessions and matches for Real Madrid. “Vinicius Júnior sent me a message saying that I should come to this club. I can't wait to work with him, Jude Bellingham and all the other top players.”

“Top quality players always find each other. It is now up to me to connect with this selection.” During a tour of all departments of Real Madrid, Mbappé already got to know trainer Carlo Ancelotti and David Alaba, among others.

Modric

The French striker confirmed at the press moment that he never asked for Luka Modric's number 10 shirt. “Who says I want that number? I don't want that at all. That's really Luka Modric's number.”

“It's a real honour to be a teammate of Luka Modric. He's a true champion and winner of the Ballon d'Or. I have a lot of respect for him,” Mbappé said of the 38-year-old Croatian, who is expected to sign a new one-year contract with Real Madrid.

Ronaldo

Mbappé also kept to a tradition during his presentation, the well-known Real Madrid motto. “I am proud to be living my dream and playing for the best club in the history of football. I can’t believe it. And now all together: 1,2,3 HALA MADRID!”

The signing explained at the press conference why he did that. “My 1,2,3 HALA MADRID! is a wink to Cristiano, my idol as a child. He is now a friend who gives me advice, that is a privilege. We are in regular contact with each other. I send him a hug from here.”
