Kylian Mbappe has informed a few people within Paris Saint-Germain that he does not intend to extend his contract until mid-2022 for the time being, it knows. L’Equipe to report. The French sports newspaper emphasizes that this decision is not irrevocable, but as it looks now, there is a risk of a transfer-free departure. In any case, Mbappe is prepared to respect his current contract.

Mbappé’s contract situation has been a headache for PSG for some time. The 22-year-old attacker signed a four-year commitment on his final arrival in the summer of 2018 and les Parisiens have in the meantime made frantic attempts to break this contract. Over the past six months, both parties have regularly sat around the table, but PSG invariably heard from Mbappé that he was ‘reflecting’. The attacker would in any case only make a decision about his near future after the European Championship.

France was eliminated by Switzerland last week at the European Championship after Mbappe missed the decisive penalty in the penalty shootout. Meanwhile, PSG has received an opening reply from the 48-time French international: several persons within PSG have been told that Mbappé does not intend to extend his contract. L’Equipe speaks of a sensitive issue and emphasizes that this answer from Mbappé may not be irrevocable, but it does present PSG with a diabolical dilemma.

Mbappe will not force a transfer this summer and is prepared to honor his contract. This is partly due to the fact that in the current situation there are few clubs that can pay him. On the other hand, PSG do not want to sell him at the moment: les Parisiens were recently at the table with Real Madrid to talk about another player and Mbappe was also mentioned in those conversations, but the Royal was told it is not for sale under any circumstances. It means that PSG is convinced that Mbappé will still sign or that the French club would rather lose him on a free transfer than collect a relatively modest amount this summer.

The attacker would have demanded in the talks with PSG that a selection is made that can win the Champions League. The French top club thinks they have met this by bringing in Georginio Wijnaldum, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi. An additional problem, however, is that the relationship between sporting director Leonardo and Mbappé has become clouded. The Qatari owners are even concerned that the driver has ruined negotiations with Mbappe.

It was previously reported that chairman Nasser Al-Khelaïfi would have taken over the negotiations with Mbappé, but L’Equipe now reports that Leonardo’s job has come under pressure as a result. A transfer-free departure from Mbappe would be extremely painful, as PSG paid 145 million euros to take him over from AS Monaco. So far he has 171 games for les Parisiens to his name, in which he accounted for 132 goals and 61 assists.
