Should Denzel Dumfries say goodbye to PSV this summer, Hans Kraay junior will know which player should succeed him in Eindhoven. The analyst cum reporter thinks AZ-back Jonas Svensson is high on the list of the PSV leadership. AZ football affairs director Max Huiberts recently announced that he still has hope of extending the cooperation with the right back. Svensson can be picked up in Alkmaar for free because of his expiring contract.

Kraay junior fired Monday evening Veronica Inside first the praise about Dumfries. “He gave another game of gas last Saturday (against FC Groningen, ed.). That is really great, he never fails. I have the impression that PSV hopes to be able to sell him, so as Jonas Svensson from AZ, that is transfer-free. ” Dumfries has recently been linked in various foreign media to a premature departure from PSV. His current contract in the Philips Stadium will continue for more than two years, although the right back stated in January that he is ready for a summer departure from the number two in the Eredivisie.

Fellow analyst René van der Gijp is usually critical of Dumfries’ tactical qualities. However, just like Kraay junior, he is very impressed with the drive which the PSV defender shows in every match. “When you see what an energy Dumfries radiates, much more than Georginio Wijnaldum. He is much more of a relaxed guy on that field.” Kraay junior then somewhat protected the Liverpool midfielder. “But doesn’t Wijnaldum also radiate dynamism?” Van der Gijp thinks, however, that he cannot compete with Dumfries in that area. “He has that much more.”

Whether Svensson will take over from Dumfries at PSV is still the question. The 28-year-old right back from Norway has set his sights on an adventure in a major European competition, after four seasons in the AZ shirt. Huiberts hopes to keep Svensson on board nevertheless. “I feel that the door is not closed yet,” the AZ director said in conversation with it last week Noordhollands Dagblad.
