Orkun Kökçü remains loyal to Feyenoord for the time being. Feyenoord Transfermarkt was able to report on Tuesday afternoon that the twenty-year-old midfielder has put aside a generous offer from Hertha BSC. The Turkey international wants to finish the season at Feyenoord anyway, where his contract runs until mid-2025. The Rotterdam club has reportedly set the asking price for Kökçü at twenty million euros.

Kökçü could earn a princely salary from Hertha, but he does not see a temporary transfer to the Bundesliga club. The young midfielder has developed strongly under trainer Arne Slot and a sudden departure from De Kuip is currently not an option. Nevertheless, there is sufficient interest from abroad in Kökçü. Football International recently reported that the midfielder is being followed by scouts from AS Roma, Leeds United and Sevilla. In the past, Leicester City was also mentioned as the new employer of the Feyenoord player.

Kökçü extended his contract with Feyenoord in the spring of 2020 until the summer of 2025. Under Dick Advocaat there were sometimes doubts about his qualities as a midfielder, but under Slot the criticism seems to have faded into the background. Kökçü has made 26 games in the Eredivisie and the Conference League so far this season, including preliminary round matches in a European context. The counter in terms of international matches for Turkey now stands at thirteen.
