Ronald Koeman does not appear to have changed anything in the line-up of the Dutch national team against Austria on Tuesday. For example, the national coach stated at the final press conference that Memphis Depay, who has not yet had a convincing European Championship, will simply play in the last group match. The match in Berlin starts on Tuesday at 6:00 PM and can be seen on NPO 1.

Koeman was asked at the press conference how he deals with the substitutes. He already hinted that no changes will take place. “Players who sit on the bench also receive attention. I think that as a head coach you should also put energy into that. You want them to train as much as possible before you call on them.”

After his star roles against both Poland (1-2) and France (0-0), Bart Verbruggen is the undisputed goalkeeper of the Dutch national team. In principle, Koeman has no reason to make changes at the back. Denzel Dumfries, Stefan de Vrij, Virgil van Dijk and Nathan Aké are the designated defenders.

Jerdy Schouten received a yellow card against France, meaning he will miss the round of 16 if he receives another yellow card. Nevertheless, the PSV player seems to be playing normally, also because he makes an excellent impression in Koeman's team when in possession of the ball. Tijjani Reijnders and number 10 Xavi Simons can also prepare for a starting spot. Joey Veerman, who will probably have to settle for a reserve role, is also on alert.

Memphis once again receives Koeman's confidence, despite the fact that the striker put in an extremely mediocre performance against France. That's what he got from Football zone a 3 for his performance and he was by far the most talked about player at the press conference.

“Depay will play tomorrow,” said Koeman, who thinks it is physically responsible to let the injury-prone Memphis, who was sidelined not long ago, start. “He can play 90 minutes and is physically ready for it. The fact that he has been substituted twice does not say anything about that. We needed something different against Poland and France at the end.”

“In the match against Poland I thought we had to do things slightly differently with the introduction of Wout Weghorst and that also applied to France. But it is not without reason that he is a player who is almost the all-time top scorer for the Dutch national team.”

Joshua Zirkzee was missing from training on Sunday due to illness. However, things are going in the right direction for the Bologna striker. “He is doing better now. Yesterday (Sunday, ed.) He was not well, he had a mild fever and did not train either. Just like this morning, by the way. He is now in the hotel, we will see tomorrow (Tuesday, ed.) whether he can be there.”

Koeman has set a clear goal for the match against Austria: win. “We are just trying to be first in the group. That is what we want. It will be a tough match, because Austria is certainly not to be underestimated. We will have to be very good and concentrated in our ball possession.”

Possible line-up the Dutch: Bridge; Dumfries, De Vrij, Van Dijk, Aké; Schouten, Simons, Reijnders; Frimpong, Memphis, Gakpo.
