Jean-Clair Todibo is the next player from Barcelona who has been told by Ronald Koeman that he doesn’t have to count on a lot of playing time this season. The French centre defender is thus once again facing a departure from the Catalan superpower. L’Équipe to report this afternoon.

Todibo made the switch from Toulouse to Barcelona a year and a half ago for only one million euros, but a breakthrough in the Camp Nou has yet to happen. The 20-year-old centre defender was housed for six months last season on a rental basis at Schalke 04 and is allowed to leave this transfer period again.

Todibo talked to the club management of Barcelona this week and was told that he doesn’t have to count on a lot of playing time under Koeman this season. The Dutch practice master has Gerard Piqué, Clement Lenglet, Samuel Umtiti and Ronald Araújo at his disposal in the back, which makes Todibo’s perspective fragile.

Barcelona initially had a price tag of 25 million euros around Todibo’s neck, but the club’s demands are now less substantial. L’Équipe states that Barcelona would even be open for a rental period of the stopper and mentions Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leicester City and Benfica as interested clubs.

Barcelona is in the process of cleaning up this transfer period. For example, Ivan Rakitic and Arthur Melo already left for Seville and Juventus respectively, while Arturo Vidal is about to complete his transfer to Internazionale and Luis Suárez is also allowed to leave. Koeman is also not counting on Riqui Puig this season, the coach confirmed Saturday evening after the practice game with Elche (1-0 win).
