Following the example of several countries, the KNVB takes a clear position in the war situation surrounding Russia and neighboring Ukraine. The Dutch football association reports in an official statement on Monday that no international matches or friendly matches will be played against representative teams of Russia and Belarus for the time being. The board of the KNVB has decided this in an inserted federation meeting.
“The KNVB immediately harshly condemned Russia’s aggression against Ukraine last Thursday,” the statement read on Monday. “We hope with all our hearts that the war in Ukraine will end as soon as possible. The seriousness and extent of Russia’s continued aggression and Belarus’ cooperation mean that the KNVB has taken this decision.
