ADO Den Haag will be deducted three points because the budget is still not in order, the KNVB announced. Marijn Abbenhuijs, ADO watcher for the General Newspaper, already reported via Twitter that the KNVB has informed the club from the Hofstad by letter. ADO had until last week to balance the budget, but apparently it has not succeeded.

ADO submitted the budget on June 15, but indicated that there was a ‘significant liquidity need’. The club then had eight weeks to close the liquidity budget and is still looking for a new owner. A week ago it was reported that ‘constructive talks’ had taken place with two takeover candidates, but an agreement has not yet been reached and that is causing an impasse.

It is clear that the current owner, the Chinese United Vansen, wants to get rid of the club and is not prepared to pull out the wallet to close the gaps in the budget. At the moment, ADO is several million short and that is currently partly ensuring that the budget cannot be balanced. ADO had until August 15 to balance the budget, but was ultimately unable to meet that deadline. As a result, the KNVB is now taking measures.

“ADO Den Haag has received a letter from the KNVB. The club will be deducted three points because the budget is still not balanced. The club had until last week to take care of that,” Abbenhuijs writes on Twitter. It means a considerable blow to the bill for ADO, because the team of trainer Ruud Brood has started the season strongly. After victories over Jong Ajax and FC Volendam, ADO is the joint leader of the Kitchen Champion Division. ADO can still appeal against the penalty of the KNVB.

“Paid football organizations (BVOs) can appeal against decisions of the professional football licensing committee to the independent professional football licensing committee. Due to confidentiality, the licensing committee and licensing appeals committee do not communicate substantively about individual ongoing proceedings,” the KNVB said in a statement. The objective of the License System established by the KNVB is to guarantee the continuity of professional football competitions and, by extension, to guarantee the continued existence of BVOs. The system has a dynamic character, which means that BVOs that play in the competitions pay football does not have to apply for a new license every year. A license may lapse or be withdrawn from a BVO if it repeatedly does not meet the applicable license requirements.”
