Patrick Kluivert is most likely working on his final months of employment at Barcelona as head of youth academy. The 44-year-old former striker confirms in the Warming Uppodcast by Humberto Tan that shows everything that he has to leave, although he still has to get the official message from the club management. “I have yet to have another talk, but I think this will be my last season as head of youth academy,” said Kluivert.

The return of Joan Laporta as chairman heralds Kluivert’s departure. The new chairman wants to appoint a new chairman with José Ramón Alexanko, Kluivert confirms. “It’s a shame,” says the current head of the Barcelona training. “You started something that you did well. But when I leave, I have a lot of fun doing it. There will be a new opportunity for me. ” Kluivert has been working in his position at the club where he played between 1998 and 2004 since 2019.

“We will see what happens,” said Kluivert. “I still have two months to see how or what. There will be another chance for me. It’s a shame, you started something that you did well. The feedback I have received speaks for itself and I take that with me. If it were to happen, so be it and then you move on. There are worse things in the world, ”says Kluivert of his forced departure.

Kluivert does not yet know where he will work next season. His preference is for a position as a trainer. “I notice that coaching is starting to take hold again,” said Kluivert, who previously worked as a trainer of Jong FC Twente and assistant national coach at the Dutch national team. “I started coaching, then I went to the administrative direction, which is also fantastic. But the field, the grass, that remains the most beautiful thing there is. I look at the options and make the best choice. ”
