The Kitchen Champion Division has a new leader at least until Saturday afternoon. Almere City won 2-0 against Helmond Sport in-house by goals from Anass Ahannach and Delvechio Blackson and therefore takes over the lead from NAC Breda for the time being, which will play against Young PSV this weekend. At the same time, FC Dordrecht booked its first victory of the season and put Young AZ aside 2-0.

Almere City – Helmond Sport 2-0
A victory over Helmond Sport would in any case give Almere City the lead until Saturday afternoon, when competitor NAC Breda takes action against Young PSV. Still, the team of trainer Ole Tobiasen did not have an easy time with low flyer Helmond in the first half. Thomas Verheydt and Faris Hammouti had good opportunities for Almere City, but the visitors presented a great opportunity for Jordy Thomassen. The supporters present in the Yanmar Stadium had to be patient for fifteen minutes after the break before the score was opened, despite opportunities for Verheydt and Tim Receveur.

Anass Ahannach was inside the lines for one minute and brought the opening goal on the scoreboard with 64 minutes on the clock. Five minutes later, Almere City managed to double the margin. A shot from Receveur was initially blocked by Helmond goalkeeper Stijn van Gassel, but the rebound was a prey for Delvechio Blackson. Receveur then had a double opportunity to get on the score sheet himself, but he failed to make it 3-0. The safe margin for Almere City did remain on the scoreboard, so that the Kitchen Champion Division has a new leader for at least half a day.

FC Dordrecht – Young AZ 2-0
With only one point from four games, FC Dordrecht had a poor start to the season, but took Friday-evening the Sheep Heads the first win of the season. The home team was helped in the saddle at its own Krommedijk by the visitors from Alkmaar, because Young AZ was already with ten men after 35 minutes. Fons Gemmel got his first yellow card for a handball and was able to retreat seven minutes later after a hard charge with the elbow. In the injury time of the first half, FC Dordrecht took advantage of the team situation, when Kevin Jansen shot the opening goal from a distance on the scoreboard.

The first phase of the second half was stormy, with the necessary opportunities back and forth. For example, Richie Musaba and Nikolas Agrafiotis could have doubled the margin, while Mohamed Taabouni on behalf of Young AZ had several opportunities on the equalizer. After the match had to be stopped for a while due to a broken flag of the linesman, it remained exciting for a long time in Dordrecht. It wasn’t until injury time that FC Dordrecht managed to secure the first win of the season, when Julius Bliek set the final score at 2-0 with his head.
