Kik Pierie had so far not enjoyed his transfer from sc Heerenveen to Ajax. The defender did not appear in the plans of head coach Erik ten Hag last season and made his playing minutes with Young Ajax in the Kitchen Champion Division. This season he plays on a rental basis at FC Twente. He plans to return to Amsterdam next year, but will want to leave if he gets back to second plan.

“You are used to playing in the Eredivisie. That you have to take a step back makes it difficult, ”says the twenty-year-old defender in conversation with Andy van der Meijde in the program With Andy in the car. Pierie made the switch from sc Heerenveen to Ajax in the summer of last year for five million euros and is still waiting for his Eredivisie debut on behalf of the team from Amsterdam. Last season he got no further than 22 games in the Kitchen Champion Division.

In order to be active at the highest level, Pierie opted for a temporary transfer to FC Twente during this transfer period. “I still have a four-year contract with Ajax. I don’t know yet whether I will go back to Ajax afterwards. It is the plan, “says the center defender, who keeps a blow to the arm.” You don’t know how it will go. If I go back to Ajax, I want to have a chance to play. “

“If they say after this year, you are going to play at the Toekomst again, then of course I will look elsewhere”, says Pierie. “The goal is to make as many minutes as possible at FC Twente, to get better and eventually play in Ajax 1. But if I can’t play at Ajax 1, then I won’t run into the same wall six times.” Pierie sustained an ankle injury in preparation for this season and is still waiting for his official debut for Twente.
