Kik Pierie is no longer in action this season. The FC Twente defender got injured on his hamstring in the lost league match against FC Utrecht (1-2) on Sunday and had to be replaced. It is not clear how long his recovery will take, but according to Twente it is out of the question that he will still appear within the lines this year.

Pierie was injured after 63 minutes of play on Sunday during a sprint to keep Gyrano Kerk off the ball. The pain suddenly shot into the defender’s hamstring, who was treated on the field and, to loud applause from the fans present, limped to the sidelines. Dario Dumic is his replacement. Pierie is a fixed value in the starting eleven of trainer Ron Jans. The defender also struggled with injuries at the start of the season, but had a starting spot in 23 of the last 24 league matches.

Twente is ninth in the Eredivisie and hopes to qualify for the play-offs. The people of Enschede will visit Fortuna Sittard on Saturday. The suspended Jayden Oosterwolde will not be there either. On the other hand, Wout Brama and Luka Ilic return to the match selection. Brama missed the last three matches due to injuries; Ilic was missing due to an ankle injury against Utrecht and is now fit again.
