Danny Buijs and Glenn Bijl got into a fight on Saturday evening during the game between FC Groningen and FC Emmen (1-1). The FC Emmen defender was thrown to the ground by Buijs, after he had prevented FC Groningen’s coach from resuming the match quickly. Kenneth Perez says in the program This was the Weekend from ESPN that he was mainly disturbed by the reaction of Buijs afterwards.

“Whether I could still get away with yellow? No, I do not think so. It was all not too bad. If I had hit him, he wouldn’t have got up again ”, Buijs responded. “It happens in the adrenaline, in the emotion. In retrospect, I should have been better off not giving him that push. Maybe I should let that ball run from now on. It’s in the nature of an animal, but I didn’t hit him or anything. ”

“Of course he went too far,” Perez emphasizes. Bijl also spoke of ‘misconduct’ by Buijs. “That’s okay, because his character came out for a moment. But what I have more trouble with is the sturdiness afterwards. “If I had hit him, he would never have gotten up again.” You are a trainer of FC Groningen, a large club in the Eredivisie. That’s bar talk, you know. Pub talk. ”

“That you fall back into your character at that moment: okay”, the Danish analyst continues. “It has also brought him far in football. Then you apologize afterwards. But this kind of brashness: please, say. Not at all. You are responsible for the team and here the mouthpiece of the club. As a director I would not be happy if my trainer manifested himself like that. ”
