The friendly match between Real Betis and AS Roma (5-2) got completely out of hand on Saturday evening. Three players, including Rick Karsdorp, received a red card in the Benito Villamarín and José Mourinho was also referred to the stands. It is not the first time in the preparation for the new season that the frustrations at AS Roma are running high. That also happened against FC Porto, after a foul by Pepe.

In the first 58 minutes there was little going on in southern Spain, except for yellow cards for Karsdorp, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the first half. The flames exploded when Álex Moreno apparently dived the ball into the goal. However, the left back made hands and Jorge Figueroa Vázquez, the on-duty referee, had missed that. The VAR is not available during practice matches and so the 3-2 of the team of coach Manuel Pellegrini counted.

The dissatisfaction at AS Roma was then very noticeable. Gianluca Mancini was shown a yellow card and Pellegrini was even shown a red card for his comments to the referee, who was then cynically shaken by the AS Roma captain. Mourinho came onto the field to express his displeasure, after which he was referred to the stands. In the 65th minute, Mancini received his second yellow card after a foul and AS Roma was on the field with nine men.

Nearly eight thousand spectators saw how Karsdorp was the next to receive a red card from Figueroa Vázquez after 78 minutes of play. After his charge on Joaquín, the Dutchman did not even wait for the decision of the Spanish arbitrator and he already walked to the side. In the remainder of the match, the Spanish club went on to win 5-2 thanks to goals from Cristian Tello and Robert.

The newspapers in Spain on Sunday speak shame of the behavior of AS Roma. AS Roma and Mourinho should be treated marca even, also referring to the massive uproar in the friendly match between AS Roma and FC Porto. AS Roma will start the Serie A in two weeks with a home game against Fiorentina.
