Fortuna Sittard and NEC shared the points in the Eredivisie on Tuesday evening: 1-1. The Nijmegen team took the lead in the second half through Rober, but that goal was canceled out by (again) Kaj Sierhuis.

Compared to the hard defeat against Sparta Rotterdam (4-0), Fortuna coach Danny Buijs' position had changed in one place. Alen Halilovic returned to the starting line-up for the Limburgers. Justin Lonwijk was not there.

In a relatively tame first half in the Fortuna Sittard Stadium, both teams hardly recorded any opportunities. The opening phase was for NEC, after which Fortuna took over the direction in the second part of the first act.

Ultimately it was thanks to Jasper Cillessen that the Nijmegen team went to tea with a 0-0 score. He made a number of excellent saves to prevent the home team from taking the lead.

After about an hour of play, NEC took the lead in Sittard, somewhat against the odds. With the first shot between the posts, Rober González gave the visitors the lead in a wonderful way.

After an excellent attack, Mees Hoedemakers managed to reach the Spaniard. The wing attacker opened up and shot beautifully: 0-1. Buijs' team recovered fifteen minutes later.

Once again it was Sierhuis who scored the Fortuneze goal: 1-1. The striker almost scored his second goal a few minutes later, but the people of Nijmegen could breathe a sigh of relief. The match ended in a draw, meaning that NEC failed to beat Ajax again, while Fortuna continued to lead the right-hand row due to the division of points.
