Álvaro Morata returns to Juventus for good, according to Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca Di Marzio, among others. La Vecchia Signora has fully agreed with Atlético Madrid over a rental period of at least one year. Morata replaces Barcelona attacker Luis Suárez, who has chosen Atlético Madrid at the last minute.

Juventus initially rents Morata for an amount of ten million euros. After the first year, the Italians have the option of permanently recruiting the 27-year-old Spaniard for 45 million euros. Juventus can also choose to rent Morata for an extra year for an additional ten million euros. At the end of that second season, the purchase option then amounts to 35 million euros. In total Juve so pay 55 million euros for Morata, if he was finally brought in.

For example, Morata returns to the club where he was already under contract between 2014 and 2016. The 33-time international played 93 official matches for Juventus in two years, in which he scored 27 goals and delivered 18 assist. His performance in Turin at the time prompted Real Madrid to activate Morata’s € 30 million buyback clause. After a year in Madrid, he was sold to Chelsea. Another year and a half later Morata became a player of Atlético Madrid.

For weeks it seemed that Suárez was coming to Turin. The Uruguayan had already personally agreed with Juventus on a two-year contract, but due to complications related to obtaining Italian citizenship, the transition stalled. According to Romano, 33-year-old Suárez has agreed with Atlético Madrid, where he will be presented in the very short term.

It is unclear what the consequences of the transfer of Morata are for Edin Dzeko. Despite a personal agreement with the 34-year-old AS Roma striker, his transfer to Juventus has still not been completed. Roma only wants to let Dzeko leave if Arek Milik can be taken over from Napoli. According to Romano, there is now an agreement between Roma and Napoli on a transfer fee of 25 million euros, and only Milik still has to agree to a transfer to the capital of Italy.
