Ajax managed to convert its fourth practice match into a win. On the fields of TEC in Tiel, Francesco Farioli's team defeated Al Wasl, the champion of the United Arab Emirates: 2-1. Julian Rijkhoff scored his first goal of the preparation. The other goal was scored by Branco van den Boomen.

Farioli sent a young team onto the field, led by Steven Berghuis. The midfielder and winger wore the captain's armband and was given the task of taking charge.

In the opening phase, both teams were mainly feeling each other out. Ajax had the ball frequently and were looking for an opening, but did not find it. Borna Sosa saw a shot from about twenty meters go over the goal.

Shortly afterwards, Van den Boomen was on target. After an attack on the right, the midfielder was ready to shoot the ball against the grain: 1-0. The assist was provided by Christian Rasmussen.

After half an hour of play, the score was doubled by Rijkhoff. The striker, who has had a hard time in the preparation so far, was found by the passing Anton Gaaei. At the far post, he made it 2-0.

In the second half Ajax did not sparkle at all. Farioli decided to bring in Kristian Hlynsson and Silvano Vos for Berghuis and Mika Godts, after which the captain's armband went to Van den Boomen.

The scorer of the 1-0 had the chance to put Ajax three ahead shortly after the break, but Rasmussen's inswinging cross could not be converted. A header from Hlynsson on an assist from Gaaei also missed the target.

Ajax would get several chances to extend the score in the remainder of the match, including via Rijkhoff, but failed to do so. The attacking leader was stopped by the keeper from close range after an attack over several discs.

On the other side, Ajax even conceded a goal in the final phase, to make matters worse. Sivert Mannsverk launched clumsily and unintentionally at the Al Wasl striker, who coolly finished in the near corner: 2-1.
