AC Milan failed to beat Bologna at home on Saturday evening. In a match with three penalties, two of which were missed, the final score was 2-2 after the final whistle. Milan remains third for the time being, while Bologna is in seventh place in Serie A.

A total of three Dutch people were at the kick-off. At AC Milan, Tijjani Reijnders kicked off as a defensive midfielder, while Sam Beukema (central in defense) and Joshua Zirkzee (striker) were in the starting line-up on behalf of the visitors.

After a few chances back and forth, the score suddenly came after half an hour of play. Bologna came out dangerous on the counter, and after a number of blocked shots the ball suddenly ended up at Zirkzee's feet. He shot through the legs of goalkeeper Mike Maignan in the long corner: 0-1.

It was already his ninth official goal of this season for Zirkzee, who is having an excellent season.

Just before half time, Milan were awarded a penalty after a foul by Lewis Ferguson in his own penalty area. The referee's decision led to much indignation at Bologna, and coach Thiago Motta even received a red card.

Motta was therefore able to leave, while the penalty remained. Olivier Giroud took the shot from eleven meters and saw goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski take his penalty. So it turned out to be 0-1.

Still, both teams went into halftime with an equal score. In the 45th minute, Ruben Loftus-Cheek tapped in a low cross from Davide Calabria at the near post: 1-1.

In the second half, Milan had the opportunity to take the lead for the first time thanks to Beukema. The Dutch defender committed a foul and again the home team received a penalty. This time Theo Hernández aimed, but he also missed: the ball ended up on the post.

Yet Milan took the lead a few minutes later. Alessandro Florenzi crossed, Loftus Cheek headed in: 2-1. Milan seemed to be on their way to victory, but just before the end the ball suddenly hit the spot for Bologna, after VAR interference. Riccardo Orsolini did not fail from eleven meters, and thus determined the final score at 2-2.
