The transfer has been in the air for a while, but Allan Saint-Maximin can now officially call himself a Fenerbahçe player. The Frenchman will be loaned from Al-Ahli for the rest of the season.

Newly appointed coach José Mourinho has played a crucial role in the winger's temporary move to the Süper Lig, writes Fabrizio Romano. Saint-Maximin has successfully passed his medical and has now been presented to his new employer.

The now 27-year-old Saint-Maximin gained fame at Newcastle United, where he showed himself to be a menacing winger in the Premier League, especially in his early period. At the beginning of last season, the winger opted rather suddenly for a transfer to Al-Ahli, who transferred more than 27 million euros to Newcastle.

Saint-Maximin, who can play on both the left and right, made 31 appearances in the Saudi Pro League last season, scoring four goals and providing ten assists. Thanks in part to his efforts, Al-Ahli finished third, a respectable distance behind Al-Nassr and champions Al-Hilal.

For Fenerbahçe, Saint-Maximin is already the sixth summer signing. Earlier, Cenk Tosun, Levent Mercan, Rade Krunic, Oguz Aydin and Caglar Söyüncü made the (permanent) transfer to the Sükrü Saracoglu Stadium.

With Saint-Maximin in their ranks, Fenerbahçe hopes to once again win the Turkish league title next season. The last time the Yellow Canaries managed to crown themselves the best team in Turkey in 2014.

Saint-Maximin began his career at AS Saint-Étienne, before moving to AS Monaco. The club loaned him to Hannover 96 and SC Bastia before moving to OGC Nice in 2017 for €10 million. The club sold him to Newcastle United two years later for €18 million.
