Jordi Alba reportedly receives twenty million euros gross from Barcelona, reports Mundo Deportivo. Following other club icons Gerard Piqué and Sergio Busquets, the left back announced his farewell to Barcelona on Wednesday. The 34-year-old defender did not reach an agreement with the club for some time about the settlement of his contract that runs until mid-2024, but the two parties have now come to an agreement. Alba is dropping a considerable amount of money to help his club.
The amount of twenty million euros mainly stems from credits to which Alba was still entitled. For example, he previously agreed to get his money later, to give the financially ailing Barcelona a helping hand. Partly due to the corona crisis, the club ended up in severe financial weather. Although Alba still receives a considerable amount, he was actually entitled to more. However, the defender is dropping a large part of the salary to which he was still entitled.
Alba was taken over by Barcelona from Valencia in 2012 for fourteen million euros. The left leg says goodbye to the Spotify Camp Nou a few days before Barça’s last league game against Mallorca, so that he can say hello to the supporters on the field.
