Johan Derksen takes back a statement he made on Monday in the broadcast of Veronica Inside. The analyst joked about the new PSV midfielder Mario Götze’s metabolic disease, without being aware of the possible seriousness of metabolic diseases. After being made aware of this by a viewer, Derksen distances himself from his joke: on Friday evening he speaks of a ‘very stupid, uncivilized comment’.

Derksen made his joke when Götze’s wife, Ann-Kathrin Brömmel, came up on Monday. Hans Kraay junior had asked Götze during his presentation whether his wife would be present at the PSV matches. “Because of that misogynistic nonsense Hans, I felt compelled to make a joke again,” Derksen recalls. “When that beautiful woman came into the picture, I said, ‘Well, I don’t mind a metabolic disease for that too.’ Not knowing it’s a pretty serious disease. ”

A viewer, Danny, wrote Derksen a letter about the metabolic disease of his son Axel. They need lifelong palliative care; his illness is life-threatening and Axel is now older than the doctors thought at birth, although the broadcast does not tell how old he is. “He wrote something with which I completely agree: if I had said ‘I also have cancer for that’, then there would have been a riot. But because of my ignorance about the seriousness of a metabolic disease, I just said something very stupid, ”admits Derksen. “Saturday happens to be the Day of Bundling of Strength against Metabolic Diseases. A lot of people don’t know what it means, I did too. It was a very inappropriate comment. ”

Kraay junior is asked in the broadcast about his comments about Götze’s wife. His employer FOX Sports had no problems with his question, according to the analyst. “No, it is not.
