Joeri de Kamps returns to the Dutch fields. Sparta Rotterdam announces through the official channels that the 29-year-old midfielder will be rented from Slovan Bratislava until the end of the season. The Rotterdammers have stipulated an option to buy in the lease with the champion of Slovakia.

“Joeri is a player with a lot of experience”, technical director Gerard Nijkamp explains on behalf of Sparta. “He went through the entire Ajax youth academy and played on behalf of Heerenveen and NAC Eredivisie before leaving for Bratislava in 2016. There he was a permanent fixture in a team that played annually for prizes and also played more than thirty matches in European Cup football. With his experience and way of playing, his arrival will give us even more opportunities in midfield.”

De Kamps was trained by Ajax and left Amsterdam permanently for NAC Breda in 2014, after playing for sc Heerenveen on a rental basis for a year. On behalf of Heerenveen and NAC, the former youth international played 41 matches in the Eredivisie, before leaving for Slovan Bratislava in January 2016. With the Slovakian top club, he won three national titles and the Slovak Cup three times in the past six years.

This season, De Kamps played sixteen official games for Slovan Bratislava. However, in the last weeks before the winter break, De Kamps was no longer part of Slovan Bratislava’s match selection. “Slovan more or less wanted to get rid of me a bit,” says De Kamps. His contract in the Slovak capital will run until mid-2023.
