Erik ten Hag has announced the line-up of Ajax for Wednesday evening’s match in the TOTO KNVB Cup against Excelsior Maassluis. The coach chooses debutant Jay Gorter under the bar in a completely changed team. Amourricho van Axel Dongen, who made his debut against FC Utrecht last Sunday, will also start in the base. The eighth final match starts at 9 p.m.

Of the basic setup in Utrecht, only Jurriën Timber and Antony remain. Devyne Rensch and Nicolás Tagliafico get a chance to prove themselves at the back positions, while Perr Schuurs takes over the center back from Lisandro Martínez. Youri Regeer and Kenneth Taylor are the controlling midfielders, while Davy Klaassen is placed on ten instead of Steven Berghuis. Danilo takes over the striker position from Brian Brobbey, who scored twice against Utrecht. Van Axel Dongen and Antony are the wing tips.

Excelsior Maassluis normally plays in the Second Division, which has been shut down since the beginning of December due to the corona measures. Excelsior played its last game on December 14, when FC Emmen was knocked out of the cup with a 0-1 victory. At the beginning of this year, the amateur team went to a training camp in Spain.

Ajax setup: Gorter; Rensch, Timber, Schuurs, Tagliafico; Reign, Taylor, Klaassen; Antony, Danilo, Van Axel Dongen.
