Go Ahead Eagles is on the upward trend. The team of Kees van Wonderen was 3-0 too strong for FC Eindhoven on Saturday and closed a week with three games with seven points. The club from Deventer is in sixth place in the Kitchen Champion Division with twelve points from eight matches. One of the goalscorers was debutant Jacob Mulenga, who had last scored on Dutch soil on April 27, 2014 in the service of FC Utrecht.

After less than half an hour of play, Go Ahead took the lead: Sam Beukema headed the 1-0 hard against the ropes. FC Eindhoven had chances of the equalizer, via Hugo Botermans and Jort van der Sande, but went into half time with a minimal deficit. The game also seemed to end in 1-0 for a long time, but in the last eight minutes Go Ahead took further distance.

Mulenga, who had come in for Kevin van Kippersluis thirteen minutes earlier, was quick to work in the ball when Sam Hendriks bumped into the Eindhoven defense. In the extra time, Bas Kuipers even signed for the 3-0, with which Van Wonderen’s team showed itself very effectively. It was also the first home win since February 21, when NEC left De Adelaarshorst with a 2-1 loss.

Go Ahead will play an away game against NEC next Friday, which has the same number of points but one game less. FC Eindhoven, number thirteen in the rankings, hopes to end a series of four matches without a victory the same day against Young AZ.
