Hedwiges Maduro understands a possible transfer from Sergiño Dest to Bayern Munich. The superpower from the Bundesliga is on the back of Ajax: technical director Hasan Salihamidzic and head scout Marco Neppe visited the Johan Cruijff ArenA on behalf of Bayern on Tuesday, but there is no agreement yet. The possible switch will be discussed Thursday evening at Soccer talk at FOX Sports.

Leo Driessen would ‘regret’ a departure from Dest to Germany. “I think it’s good that Marc Overmars is high up in the tree, because Ajax doesn’t need the money”, the commentator and analyst know. Thursday reported The Telegraph and Football International that a first, oral offer of EUR 15 million was rejected by the Overmars Director of Football. It is not known whether the Champions League winner is in the process of making a second bid for Dest.

A departure of Dest would be a hard blow for Ajax. Erik ten Hag sees in the wingback, which usually plays on the right flank, an option as leftback. In the season’s overture against Sparta Rotterdam (0-1 victory), Dest was brought inside the lines to relieve Nicolás Tagliafico on the left back position after his red card. Kees Kwakman expects Dest to play leftback again on Sunday against RKC Waalwijk due to Tagliafico’s suspension.

“He did good to Sparta. He’s got moments and matches every now and then that make you think. Jeez, he’s a good soccer player. But sometimes a ball goes underfoot,” the former midfielder adds. Fellow analyst Maduro wonders whether Dest can resist the call from Bavaria. “If Bayern comes, I understand that he will go. It’s the best club in Europe right now.”

Ajax would like to receive EUR 20 million for Dest, plus EUR 5 million in variables. In the background, Barcelona also continues to hope for the arrival of the nineteen-year-old youth exponent of Ajax. Because of the financial restrictions, the Camp Nou is thinking of a rental deal with a mandatory option to buy. The current commitment of the United States international to Ajax will continue for another two years.
