For Noa Lang, the upcoming season at PSV will be all about staying fit, the winger said in an interview with ESPNLang indicates that last season, in which he struggled with long-term injuries, was very difficult for him.

On 27 January, Lang played his last official match. In the home match against Almere City (2-0 win), the striker from Capelle aan den IJssel had to leave the field in the second half due to a hamstring injury. The injury lasted longer than expected and Lang saw the European Championship pass him by. He also struggled with Pfeiffer's disease.

Last Tuesday, 25-year-old Lang was finally able to make his comeback, in the friendly match against his former club Club Brugge. Lang, who has only played eleven Eredivisie matches for PSV due to his injury, hopes to be more fortunate in the coming season.

“We are going step by step,” Lang made clear in an interview with reporter Aletha Leidelmeijer. “I am patient, the trainers are patient, so the people at home also have to be patient for a while.”

Lang knows that it will take a while before he is truly his old self again. “You also have to be match fit, which is something completely different. Of course this feels like a relief, but the season officially starts in three weeks. That is much harder, especially with the pressure that will soon be there in the stadium.”

Lang has a clear goal in mind. “My goal for this season is just to be fit. It's the first time I've experienced a year like that. Then you also learn to realize how blessed you are when you're fit. It's been a very dark period for me. That's actually just my biggest goal: to be fit.”

“It's still hard for me to talk about it, to be honest. It was really horrible. In the end, you have to do it yourself. I also have a mental coach and I'm lucky that I'm mentally strong enough. But that doesn't change the fact that it's still very difficult.”

If Lang continues his upward trend, it is expected that he will make his comeback in an official PSV match on August 4. The national champion from Eindhoven will then take on cup winner Feyenoord in the Philips Stadium in the battle for the Johan Cruijff Shield.
