Quinten Timber seems to be leaving FC Utrecht after a season. The midfielder (20) has already been associated with his old employer Ajax, PSV and several clubs from abroad. In the Kick-Offpodcast from The Telegraph Mike Verweij and Valentijn Driessen are considering the next step in Timber’s early career, which will be in Utrecht until the summer of 2024.

Verweij immediately takes a clear position in the podcast: “It would of course be bizarre if PSV did not follow Quinten Timber. I think you can see every Sunday evening at Studio Sport that he is a great football player. I think Ajax also takes him very seriously in the It would be crazy if that were not the case, his brother (Jurriën Timber, ed.) plays football there. He is currently one of the greatest talents in the Eredivisie. And if there are changes in the midfield at Ajax, Ryan Gravenberch is leaving, then it is completely logical that Ajax will work on it,” Verweij judges.

Will Quinten Timber be exchanging FC Utrecht for PSV after just one season?

Presenter Hein Keijser wonders whether Jurriën Timber should not convince his brother. “That didn’t help last time either, because Jurriën stayed and Quinten, who came from injuries and was a bit less advanced than Jurriën, who thought he had few opportunities,” Verweij recalls. “And that was quite a brave step at the time, he thought it was better for his development to go to FC Utrecht. He plays there every week, he plays well there. So that was a brave but good choice.” Driessen sees Quinten Timber playing more offensively in Utrecht under Rick Kruys. “And then I think you come a little closer to the Ryan Gravenberch role at Ajax. I don’t understand why he could leave so easily and I also didn’t understand why Feyenoord didn’t strict him, and Utrecht was his next club. is a bit below his level.”

Verweij then shifts attention back to Ajax. “A lot of money has been offered in the past by Stade Rennes, among others. We have also reported about that, I believe 25 million euros on Edson Álvarez. If I was technical director or technical manager, I would have known. then you have the chance as Gerry Hamstra (technical manager Ajax, ed.) and you can earn a lot of money for the club one day and it makes you even better, then I would sell Álvarez for that amount and then get Quinten Timber back and take Riechedly Bazoer for free as a backup.” Driessen immediately focuses on Quinten Timber. “He can still get much better, because it is not all roses and moonshine, not even at FC Utrecht. He still has too much ball loss and is restless with the ball. He is very gloomy, there must be more rest.”

Quinten Timber himself responds on Friday in conversation with Football International about the alleged interest of PSV. “That came to you today,” said the coveted FC Utrecht midfielder. “It’s always nice to hear that other clubs are interested in you. But it’s mainly the media. I try to focus mainly on the play-offs and the games to come. Then we’ll see. I really enjoy it at FC Utrecht, I’m developing well.” The young midfielder does not feel the need to leave his current employer in a hurry.

“I don’t necessarily have to leave, certainly not. You should always think about the steps you are going to take, where you can become even better. What I say: I can still develop very well here. We’ll see. Now first PEC”, he refers to the FC Utrecht away match in Zwolle on Saturday evening. Quinten Timber, who was taken over transfer-free from Ajax last year, has now played 29 matches for the club from Utrecht in the Eredivisie.
