Donny van de Beek is not open to a return to Ajax, Ronald de Boer reveals. The analyst was recently told this firsthand from the midfielder, who has to settle for a role as a reserve at Manchester United for the time being. In addition, according to De Boer, Ajax is not waiting to embrace Van de Beek again after one season elsewhere.
“I have talked about it with Ajax and I was told that it is currently not the case”, De Boer said in a meeting with talkSPORT. “He has also not asked Manchester United to speak with Ajax. Donny is fully focused on recovering his ankle injury and he has not submitted a transfer request to the club, that story is just not correct,” said the former Ajax midfielder, who just like Van de Beek is assisted in business matters by Guido Albers.
Through Albers, De Boer knows that Van de Beek is not happy with the current situation at Manchester United, where other midfielders are preferred by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. “He’s only had a starting place in the Premier League twice and that’s obviously not what he was hoping for when he entered Manchester United. But he’s not worried yet, even if he wants to play every game. Donny still believes there is that he can succeed in England. The midfielder has fully recovered from a muscle injury, leading Solskjaer to include him in Thursday’s match squad for the Europa League squatter against AC Milan.
