Internazionale and Atalanta balanced each other on Saturday evening after a true spectacle. Lautaro Martinez shot the Italian champion early, after which the team of trainer Gian Piero Gasperini managed to turn the game around thanks to hits from Ruslan Malinovskyi and Rafael Tolói. Edin Džeko gave Internazionale a point in the second half. Denzel Dumfries, who entered the field after an hour, was unable to turn the time. Due to the division of points, Atalanta remains in fifth place, while I Nerazzurri occupied third place.

Simone Inzaghi chose Saturday evening to leave his team unchanged after the 1-3 win at Fiorentina against Atalanta.I Nerazzurri started straight away at the Giuseppe Meazza thanks to a world goal from Martinez. Nicolò Barella hurled a ball into the box. Martínez was outlaw and did not hesitate by filling the cross from about twelve meters into the roof of the goal in one go. The Italian champion had the better of the game in the opening phase, but had to watch Atalanta come alongside after half an hour of play.

Duván Zapata was found after good preparation by José Luis Palomino. The striker then tricked Stefan de Vrij by releasing Malinovskyi with a nice heel ball. Just like Martinez, the Ukrainian midfielder did not hesitate on behalf of the away team. He left Samir Handanovic without a chance by shooting the ball from twenty meters into the long corner: 1-1. Atalanta has so far struggled with scoring this Serie A season. However, this was not noticeable against Internazionale. After 37 minutes, Gasperini’s team took the lead, once again De Vrij did not look good when the goal was conceded. The defender wanted to cover on Malinovskyi, who again managed to hit a flaming long shot. Handanovic was able to parry with his fists this time, but then gave Tolói the chance to work the ball into the goal from close range: 1-2.

The second half was only five minutes away when Internazionale escaped a bigger deficit. A free kick by star Malinovskyi on the edge of the box hit the post, after which Zapata was unable to shoot the rebound. After this warning, Inzaghi had seen enough and brought in Dumfries, who replaced Matteo Darmian as wingback. The home team did everything they could in the last half hour to tie the score. Federico Dimarco was released by Barella in the seventieth minute of the sixteen. The substitute’s shot was initially half blocked by goalkeeper Juan Musso. Dzeko then worked the ball into the empty goal from close range: 2-2.

In the final phase, both teams had the chance to take the full loot. After a cross by Dumfries, Dzeko headed the ball against the hands of Merih Demiral, after which the ball hit the spot. Dimarco had the perfect opportunity to give Internazionale the three points, but saw his penalty burst on the crossbar. Then Atalanta still seemed to take the full loot. Toloi scored his second goal of the evening and brought joy to the away team. However, after intervention by the VAR, his goal was disallowed, because the ball would have been over the back line.
