Mohamed Ihattaren will not be in Sampdoria’s match selection for the duel with Cagliari next Sunday, reports The Telegraph Thursday night. The attacking midfielder, who is still waiting for his debut in the shirt of the Italian club, has returned to the Netherlands for private reasons. It is not clear exactly what is going on.

Everything seemed to indicate that Ihattaren would make his first minutes in Italian service this weekend. It Eindhovens Dagblad spent an extensive article on it at the end of last week and wrote, among other things, that the former PSV player is fit for his debut. Ihattaren reportedly suffered from hamstring problems and was therefore only on the bench once, in the home game against Internazionale in mid-September. He has been training individually in recent weeks, but joined the group training last week.

The last time Ihattaren was inside the lines in an official match was on April 24, when he was awarded a few minutes by Roger Schmidt against FC Groningen. The talent and his German coach clearly didn’t get along, which made a departure inevitable. Like Denzel Dumfries, Ihattaren was given an individual training program but failed to show up several times. Juventus decided to pick him up, after which he was immediately leased to Sampdoria.

Recently, a financial report revealed what Ihattaren’s exact transfer costs have been. The midfielder left last summer on the last day of the transfer window. According to Il Bianconero has la Vecchia Signora 1.9 million euros paid for Ihattaren. That amount can increase on the basis of two conditional bonuses, the report shows.
