Ismaïl Aissati is back in the Netherlands. The 32-year-old midfielder keeps his condition at Elinkwijk, the amateur club for which he also played in the youth. Aissati says in conversation with it Algemeen Dagblad consider a transfer to Spain, but also does not rule out RKC Waalwijk. “Spain is pulling, but RKC is also fine”, said the former PSV and Ajax player.
At the beginning of this calendar year, Aissati signed with Adana Demirspor. However, the adventure with the Turkish second divisionist went so badly that the two-time Moroccan international surrendered his contract after a few months. “I missed my family, packed my things and returned to the Netherlands,” he says. “I am a real fan, but in Turkey football became a job for me. Of course I earned a lot of money and I had a wonderful life with my family. But I only really had fun when I was in the Netherlands during the summer vacation and started playing football with friends. . “
Since then, Aissati has been without a club and keeps his fitness level with personal trainer Jordy Best. “I would have loved to know someone like Jordy when I was young,” says Aissati. “He gives great training and motivates me to do every exercise to the fullest. I didn’t do that before. I mainly lived on my talent and could have gotten more out of my career.” Aissati hopes to find a new club soon, preferably in Spain. “Spanish clubs think in possession of the ball and play offensively.” But he does not rule out a club like RKC either. “I am charmed by the way they play football. Aissati is asked for his opinion about Mohamed Ihattaren, who, like him, is from Utrecht. “I think Mo is a great player,” said Aissati of PSV’s attacking midfielder, who has been under fire regularly this season. There was a lot to do about his way of cheering after his goal against Heracles Almelo, when Ihattaren shouted into the camera that no one can destroy him. “I don’t know him personally, but I understand what’s going on in his head,” says Aissati.
Aissati does not find the action of Ihattaren against Heracles useful. “He shouldn’t have done that.
