Ajax lost 1-2 against AS Roma in the first leg of the quarter finals of the Europa League on Thursday evening and has to make do in the return without Devyne Rensch, who received a yellow card and is therefore suspended. Theo Janssen catches up RTL ahead of Rensch’s replacement in Rome. The former midfielder states that Sean Klaiber ‘can leave’ if he is not drawn up in the Stadio Olimpico in a week.

“I am curious how they will solve that. They can get Timber to right back, Álvarez to center and Kudus to midfield. Checking Klaassen? He doesn’t want that himself ”, Janssen says. “He doesn’t want that? If it is important for the team, should he play there, right? ”, Says colleague analyst Jan Boskamp. Janssen brings up the name of Klaiber. The right back, who came over from FC Utrecht last summer, came on Thursday evening as a substitute for Rensch.

Klaiber played nineteen official matches for Ajax for the time being, six of which as a basic player. In the pecking order he normally has to make do with a place behind Rensch, Jurriën Timber and the currently injured Noussair Mazraoui. “It’s a thing with Klaiber. If he doesn’t play now again, he has to stop at Ajax and see if he can leave. Then it is just done. The most logical replacement is Klaiber and leave the rest. ”

Ajax coach Erik ten Hag predicts in front of the camera ESPN a hell of a job to turn the diptych in Ajax’s favor. “But we can act at this level and we have a chance if we reach the same level as tonight,” says Ten Hag. “I cannot blame the team. We played an excellent game. Chased the opponent well, played good positional play, created opportunities. The ball must then fall well, that did not happen tonight. We have smelled it and we are not inferior to this team. ”
