AC Milan lost points for the first time this season on Monday evening. Stefano Pioli’s team took the lead three times against AS Roma, but gave it away again just as often: 3-3. Zlatan Ibrahimovic thought he would be the man of the game with two goals, but the 39-striker of Milan will be disappointed for his unfortunate part in the last goal of his team. Ibrahimovic is now the top scorer of Serie A with six goals.

Milan got off to a flashy start, in which it took the lead after just two minutes. Rafael Leão dragged the ball from the middle into the box, where Ibrahimovic ran away from Gianluca Mancini’s back. The Swedish striker showed himself alert by tapping the ball in just in front of goalkeeper Antonio Mirante: 1-0. Roma did not need long to recover from this, although it took a big mistake from Ciprian Tatarusanu. The Milan goalkeeper jumped under a corner by Lorenzo Pellegrini, allowing Edin Dzeko to head the ball into the empty goal: 1-1.

Roma was especially threatening on the counter, while Milan came closest to a new goal in the remainder of the first half. Simon Kjaer headed the ball against the post after a corner by Hakan Çalhanoglu. Immediately after the break it was a hit for the Milanese. Rafael Leão rushed past Rick Karsdorp on the left flank, who could not keep up with the fast Portuguese. Rafael Leão brought the ball to the front post, where Alexis Saelemaekers ran in: 2-1.

An unfortunate collision between Ismaël Bennacer and Pedro resulted in a debatable penalty for Roma twenty minutes before the end. Jordan Veretout finished the job from eleven meters: 2-2. Milan received an even more debatable penalty a little later, when Çalhanoglu went down after a light push from Mancini. Ibrahimovic then signed for his second of the evening: 3-2. It turned out not to be enough for the profit. Nota bene Ibrahimovic did not get the ball away from the first post on a corner from Roma, but only touched him lightly. The ball went through to the far post, where the sliding Marash Kumbulla took advantage: 3-3. Franck Kessié and Alessio Romagnoli had the winning head for Milan in injury time, but aimed respectively at goalkeeper Mirante and wide.
