Arnold Bruggink does not understand that AZ does not sell Owen Wijndal to Ajax, says the analyst in the program This was the Weekend by ESPN. The Alkmaarders are still in the stomach with Wijndal and Teun Koopmeiners, who make no secret of the fact that they want to make another transfer. Partly because of this, Koopmeiners did not have a base place on Saturday in the first league match against RKC Waalwijk, which was lost 1-0 by AZ.

“The whole thing with a trainer who says that he only wants players who have their heads at AZ, I think is so outdated”, Kenneth Perez begins when AZ is mentioned. “It is mainly about Koopmeiners. The transfer window is so long, it feels like you’re in the transfer window all the time. Before you know it, the winter transfer window has already started. That is part of a lesser competition, lesser club. Your players always want to go higher.”

“But if there’s anyone you can tell he can just play, it’s Koopmeiners. Seventy percent of AZ’s selection is working on improving themselves and making a transfer. That is the fate of smaller leagues in Europe,” emphasizes Perez. “I would also just sell Wijndal to Ajax, if they give twenty or fifteen million euros for it”, Bruggink adds. “It doesn’t matter who pays for it, does it? There was, however, the fact that they did not want to sell anyone to Ajax.”

“All purchases that AZ make must be successful. There are so many regular players leaving. You also have to replace Svensson, Koopmeiners and Wijndal. Pff, that is impossible”, Bruggink continues. AZ already said goodbye to Calvin Stengs, Myron Boadu and Marco Bizot. Perez thinks that only Jonas Svensson, who left on a free transfer to Adana Demirspor, is difficult to replace at the moment. “Sugawara is really much less than Svensson, so that’s the hardest part. I think you should be able to catch the other two.”
