Kees Kwakman thinks Micky van de Ven is an excellent addition to Feyenoord if Tyrell Malacia leaves the ranks. The latter has been associated with Club Brugge for a week, although Feyenoord does not want to participate in a summer transfer and Malacia himself also seemed to deny on Saturday evening that he is on his way to the exit. The interview of the Feyenoord player was discussed afterwards at ESPN.

“I would think eleven million euros is a very nice price for Malacia”, said Kees Kwakman, after which presenter Milan van Dongen indicated that Feyenoord in that case could pick up another talented back for two to three million euros. “I would know if I were Feyenoord. I would get Van de Ven in no time”, replied Kwakman, referring to the twenty-year-old talent of FC Volendam.

Van de Ven is by nature a left central defender. “I think he can eventually come the farthest as a left back,” the former footballer continued. “That doesn’t mean he can’t be drafted as a central defender. The advantage is that he can play in both positions. Because he has so much to offer in terms of physique, speed, power and attacking, I think he can go the farthest as a left back.”

“When Malacia is gone, you can put him right here. I am convinced of that,” said Kwakman from De Kuip, where Feyenoord recorded a 2-1 practice victory over Werder Bremen. The analyst, who started and ended his career at FC Volendam, was hoping for a nice transfer fee for the Keuken Kampioen Divisie club. “At least three million. You won’t get it for less,” he said with a wink.

In mid-May, Van de Ven indicated that he did not expect to play for FC Volendam this season. The defender, who was named Talent of the Year in the Kitchen Champion Division, considered the chance of a transfer high. However, there seems to be no concrete interest in the defender. A few weeks ago, he was associated with Mark van Bommel’s VfL Wolfsburg. The defender is therefore ‘just’ busy preparing FC Volendam for the new season.

Malacia himself did not want to deny on Saturday that he has a personal agreement with Club Brugge. “I just signed with Feyenoord. I’m just here now and I’m focusing on Feyenoord.” The reporter indicated that it was written that he had reached a personal agreement with Club Brugge. “I don’t look at that at all. I’m just here now and that’s the most important thing.”

Malacia, 21, signed at the end of June until the summer of 2024, which does not exclude the possibility that Club Brugge could still free him from Rotterdam. In December 2017, at the age of eighteen, he made his debut in the main squad against Napoli (2-1). Since then, the youth international has played 86 official matches for the Rotterdam team. With Bas Dost, Noa Lang and Ruud Vormer, the reigning national champion of Belgium already has three Dutchmen on the payroll.
