Ahmetcan Kaplan would consider it an honor to still be playing for Ajax in five years, the central defender said in an interview with Ajax Life. He also reveals his dream club.

In the summer of 2022, Kaplan came over from Trabzonspor for just under ten million euros. Since his arrival, the central defender has struggled with frequent injuries. He made his basic debut against FC Utrecht (2-0).

Since then, he has become an indispensable part of John van 't Schip's starting eleven. The 21-year-old left foot has always kicked off since his starting debut and made a good impression.

His performance was also noted by Vincenzo Montella, Turkey's national coach. He called up Kaplan for the upcoming friendlies against Hungary and Austria.

In the interview with the magazine, Kaplan answers the question of where he sees himself in five years. “I would consider it an honor to still be playing for Ajax by then.”

“Logically, I would like to take another step one day,” continues the Turkish man-marker. “I hope to play in Spain one day, for Real Madrid. But now I focus completely on Ajax.”

Kaplan also discusses life in Amsterdam. “I live close to the Vondelpark. There I can find peace in the big city. I like to relax there after an intensive training.”
