Latest update:

Rob Jansen thinks that current Ajax is 'the worst Ajax in club history'. The agent says this in the podcast KieftJansenEgmondGijp. The foursome discuss the European elimination of the Amsterdam team in this week's episode and are not mild. “It was shocking.”

Ajax made a good impression in the first leg against Aston Villa (0-0), but suffered a hard defeat a week later when visiting Birmingham (4-0), ending the Conference League adventure. Jansen didn't know what he saw last Thursday.

“That match at Aston Villa was predictable, but weren't you shocked?” the advocate begins. “I'm really shocked. There were still people who said, 'Yes, we have a chance…' That's total nonsense.”

“It was really upsetting, yes. You could indeed expect it and then you were still shocked,” adds writer Michel van Egmond. René van der Gijp also saw that Ajax did not feel comfortable in England. “We had the idea that if you are already having a very difficult time at home against Fortuna Sittard (2-2, ed.)…”

“It is also shocking how it happens,” says Jansen. “Yes, it is very upsetting,” responds Gibe. Jansen continues: “I think that if Aston Villa steps up the pace, Ajax will leave with an 8-0 score. I had a feeling some of them were surprised too and thought: Okay….”

“That Ajax defense, that slipping and not being able to play the ball over five meters… It's terrible. I think this is the very, very, very worst Ajax in club history. By far“, says Jansen.

Kroes starts a monster job

Alex Kroes, the new general manager of Ajax, has now started his monster job in Amsterdam. “He can start wet his chest,” says Jansen. “That makes me so tired, of Alex Kroes,” Kieft responds.

“He can't do anything about that. He sits there in that stand and is shown on screen all the time. He has no influence on that,” says Van Egmond.

Jansen knows Kroes and thinks he has what it takes to get Ajax back on track. “If someone can do it… With his record and what he has done… He also has an Ajax heart, that also plays a part.”
