Ajax achieved a nice victory over FC Twente on Sunday, after falling behind in the first half. Thanks to goals from Brian Brobbey and Steven Bergwijn (penalty), the team from Amsterdam were able to add three crucial points in the hunt for fifth place: 2-1. However, it is not the goalscorers who receive the most praise afterwards. That honor goes to Kenneth Taylor.

Taylor did not operate as a wingback on the left for the first time this season on Sunday. The originally midfielder made dangerous rushes, provided the assist on the 1-1 and put Chuba Akpom one-on-one with Twente goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall fifteen minutes before the end.

Especially for its second half ESPNanalysts compliment Taylor. “For me, there was only one person who really stood up in the second half: Taylor,” said Karim El Ahmadi afterwards.

“In everything,” the analyst explains further. “In winning balls, and in the 74th minute he puts Akpom one-on-one in front of the keeper. Fantastic how he puts him there. For me, Taylor was a player who did everything he could to turn it around today.”

Marciano Vink, also present, echoes his colleague's opinion. “He was almost chased out of the stadium with tar and feathers, and yet he remained standing. Yet he shows every time that 'Hey, I am the player that Ajax may need.'”

“I think that's very good, that those guys stand out in a lesser team,” Vink also refers to Taylor's teammates Brian Brobbey and Jorrel Hato. “Because nothing is easier to play football with at FC Twente, Feyenoord and PSV. But to stand out in a bad team, that is extra quality.”

It was the fifth time in a row that John van 't Schip used Taylor as the most left defender. So far the results have been mixed. Two of the matches – against PEC Zwolle (1-3) and FC Twente – were won, two were drawn (against Sparta Rotterdam, 2-2 and Go Ahead Eagles, 1-1). Feyenoord lost 6-0 without a chance.
