Nemanja Gudelj hopes to play for NAC Breda one more time in the twilight of his career, he said in an interview with ELF Football. The 32-year-old midfielder from Seville also played for the people of Breda between 2009 and 2013 and is happy to return to the Rat Verlegh Stadium.

Gudelj was born in Belgrade in Serbia but attended the youth academy of BSV Boeimeer and NAC Breda. He made his debut in professional football at the latter club in 2009. Ultimately, he would be admired in black and yellow for three seasons.

At the beginning of January, Gudelj visited NAC, which was on a training camp in Seville. “There I spoke with John Karelse,” says Gudelj. “He brought me from the B youth to Jong NAC at the time. He was the first trainer who saw it in me.”

Gudelj made his debut under Robert Maaskant, but he was fired. “Then Karelse took over. Under him I developed further and gained the attention of various clubs. I am very grateful to him.”

“Thanks to his trust, I was given the opportunity to build a great career. He asked me if I would return. I think it would be nice to end up at NAC. The icing on the cake.”

Gudelj has warm memories of his time at NAC. He is also still in touch with a number of teammates from that time. “I speak to Jordy Buijs most often. He visited here for four or five days at the end of December.”

After his time at NAC, Gudelj played in the shirt of AZ for two seasons, before transferring to Ajax in the summer of 2015. After trips in China with Tianjin Teda and Guangzhou Evergrande and a loan with Sporting Portugal, he ended up at Sevilla in 2019.
