Johan Derksen expects that Ajax will add the first three points in the Champions League next week. Two days after the 0-1 defeat of Erik ten Hag’s team against Liverpool, the analyst assured during Veronica Inside that he’s not impressed by the side that finished third in Serie A in the last two seasons and was still in the knockout stages of the Champions League in August.

“I think Ajax will easily win from that”, assured Derksen, who was supported by Valentijn Driessen. “They also lost 4-1 to Napoli last week.” Derksen: “If you see that those Dutch people excel there, they are also very simple Eredivisie football players here.” Wilfred Genee noted that Marten de Roon and Hans Hateboer are Orange internationals after all. “Hateboer wrongly. And that boy from PSV has yet to come ”, Derksen referred to Sam Lammers, who made the switch from PSV to Atalanta in the past transfer period.

“We just have to wait and see whether that will be a good one. It’s great to hear that they are doing well in Italy. It really is a provincial club from a working-class town. It’s something different again. ” Genee asked whether Ajax should not be afraid that they will get a knock from Atalanta. Derksen: “No, no, Ajax need not be afraid of that.” Genee warned Derksen that his statements were recorded and that he will be reminded of it for a long time if, for example, Atalanta wins with big figures against Ajax.

“You won’t be confronted with it later, will you?” Driesen perhaps cynically said, as he is always reminded of his statements. Derksen: “You no longer have that Ajax really has to ‘go’ to Atalanta. There are not forty thousand crazy Italians screaming. Maybe a few mayors from the area with a sash on, ”he insisted on Friday evening.

Despite the words of Derksen and Driessen: Atalanta is also doing well this season. Gian Piero Gasperini’s team started with two away wins at Torino (2-4) and Lazio (1-4), before beating Cagliari 5-2 at home. Last weekend, the game with Napoli was lost 4-1, but the Bergamo team recovered by winning the first Champions League game with FC Midtjylland with 0-4. Atalanta will play against Sampdoria on Saturday afternoon from 3 p.m.
