Erik ten Hag is annoyed by the recent reports about his future. In an interview with club watchers this week, the Ajax trainer hinted that he would ‘like to take on’ a possible new challenge, although he is ‘not looking for it’. “I found the reporting, the interpretation by a number of media, reprehensible”, Ten Hag reacted after the 4-2 victory over Sporting Portugal. “As if I’m looking elsewhere. There’s no such thing as that.”

The trainer does not say to which reporting he refers exactly. Bee Studio Football his words were taken as a signal that the trainer may be working on his last season in Amsterdam. However, there is no reason to assume that. “But I don’t have to think about that, because I’m still stuck here. There are no other plans either, nobody has come forward.” Ten Hag says in the interview with Ziggo Sports ‘to take with you’ that director Marc Overmars will remain with the club until mid-2026. “I am very happy with that. That means peace in the tent. We can continue our work. A transfer window is coming again, so it is nice to have peace in the tent.”

The stay of Overmars has not yet been officially confirmed by Ajax. A video announcing the news was leaked Tuesday evening, but an official announcement is yet to follow. “The quality of the video is excellent, but it is still a bit premature”, Edwin van der Sar reacted before the match against Sporting. RTL 7. “It has not yet been shared on our channels, but somehow it has come out. Everything that has to do with Ajax is interesting. Especially about someone with Marc’s qualities.” The stay of Overmars would mean good news, Van der Sar admits. “Continuity is very important within a club. You want to keep your strongholds on the field and that is sometimes difficult due to the pressure of international football.”

According to Van der Sar, the fact that Erik ten Hag is associated with other clubs is a sign that Ajax is ‘doing something right’. “If there is interest in our players or trainer, we are doing something right. The fans are always there, but at a certain point people start to get a breath of fresh air. We have to make sure that we are ready, that the lists are completed to to be able to let the right man or woman flow in,” said the general manager, who himself has no wish to leave. “I’m really enjoying myself here. I think it’s really cool to be a part of it. I have my wife here, my kids have fanned out a bit. I’m sure the moment will come, but I think we are not yet ready at the club. We can still grow in the Netherlands, but especially internationally.”
