Wesley Sneijder does not understand why Riechedly Bazoer, Justin Kluivert and Tahith Chong are holding off on an international career with Curaçao. Dick Advocaat explained Veronica Offside once again that he has failed to convince them.

According to Advocaat, Bazoer, Kluivert and Chong belong to a group that still has the hope of playing for the Dutch team. “And there are a few more, about six in total. These are boys who still have the idea that they are still good enough for the Dutch team. They can decide that for themselves, but that is disappointing,” said Lawyer on.

The national coach revealed that he has still not received a response from certain potential internationals. “Bazoer has not responded to a letter. I also called him, Kluivert and Chong, but no response. For example, I would have really liked to have Chong join us.”

Bazoer is now 27 years old and played his last international match for the Dutch team in June 2016. Kluivert last played on behalf of the Dutch national team in December 2019. The 25-year-old Bournemouth attacker stopped at two international matches. At the age of 24, Chong is still waiting for his debut. The Luton Town midfielder did play six matches in the Dutch Juniors.

Sneijder hears Advocaat's story with great surprise. “I don't understand those players. That you still, now, have the idea that Ronald Koeman is going to select you. Bazoer will no longer be added. Neither will Chong. And Kluivert? Not him either,” the analyst says firmly.

Sneijder believes that the trio should seize the opportunity to possibly play at the World Cup with Curaçao. “As a football player, playing the World Cup is the best thing there is, man. Take up that challenge, go there! With those players there, the chance that they will qualify is even greater. If they wait too long and still change go, then qualifying for the World Cup will no longer be possible.”

Wim Kieft, who is also present in the talk show, can understand Kluivert's choice. “He's maybe the only one I can understand it a little bit from. That's a bit of a challenge, if there are injuries or something.”
