Vitesse started the group stage of the Conference League well on Thursday. The team of coach Thomas Letsch won 0-2 against NS Mura in Slovenia thanks to goals from Sondre Tronstad and Danilho Doekhi. Vitesse was better than the Slovenian opponent in most of the match and could have made the score even higher. For example, shortly after the break, Riechedly Bazoer shot the bar from quite a distance.
“It was important for us to start with a good game and possibly the win. We also started the game well and created many chances, but we missed too many. After the 0-1 of Tronstad we collapsed a bit, but if you look at the whole game I think we deserved to win”, Letsch was told afterwards. Broadcasting Gelderland quoted.
Tronstad opened the scoring in Maribor after half an hour. A long shot from the midfielder was blocked, after which the Norwegian got out of whack with his left leg. “I think we started well. All matches in Europe are tough.” Tronstad didn’t score the best goal of his career. “Haha, it wasn’t a brilliant goal, no. But I don’t score much, so I was happy with it.”

Vitesse is now first in Group D, partly because Stade Rennais and Tottenham Hotspur held each other in a draw at the same time. “But that doesn’t mean anything,” emphasized the trainer of the Gelderland club. “There is no point in looking at Stade Rennais and Tottenham, they are Champions League clubs. They have different qualities.”
Oussama Tannane appeared at the kick-off and was the best player with his actions and passes. “I have enjoyed many players, including Tannane. He did well. That’s why we set it up.
