Rick Karsdorp is having a strong start to the season at AS Roma. The right wing defender can count on the confidence of trainer Jose Mourinho to date and is considered a permanent base force. Karsdorp thereby ensures that Bryan Reynolds is kept on the bench with the Romans for the time being. The promise that came from FC Dallas must be his previous brands in Karsdorp, although he says he admires him.

Last weekend, Roma only ran into the first loss of points of the season, when, despite an assist from Karsdorp, they lost 3-2 to Hellas Verona. Mourinho’s expectations are therefore high in Rome. “When they announced Mourinho as their new coach, my first reaction was ‘wow,'” Reynolds said. CBS Sports. “It’s special to work with one of the best football coaches in the world. It’s not easy, because you always want to make a good impression on the manager, whoever he is. But Mourinho is a great name. The only thing All I can do is keep working hard and hope to get playing minutes.”

So far, Reynolds has had to settle for two meager substitutes, in the Conference League against Trabzonspor and against Sassuolo in Serie A. “You have to think much faster and smarter”, the defender compares with the MLS. “When I made my debut against Parma, fellow players asked for the ball so quickly. It took me time to get used to it. When I played in Dallas, I had a lot more time when I got the ball and I didn’t have to think quickly. is totally different from how i used to play especially now the fans are back in the stadium it’s like being on the podium and when the team scores the stadium explodes like when stephan el shaarawy scored in the final phase against sassuolo .”

The single international of the United States allows himself the time to fight for himself in Mourinho’s team and until then looks interested at Karsdorp. “Even when I’m not playing, I try to watch Rick,” Reynolds admits. “Karsdorp is having a very good series of games. Offensively I’m good, but defensively I really need to improve. Wherever the ball is on the field, I always try to look at how Karsdorp positions himself on the field. I feel pretty good with the ball, but in Serie A you face absolute world class players.”
